Crypto converter
Convert between any of the top 100 cryptocurrencies — or to and from US dollars — at live market rates. Prices update on the same ~60-second cadence as our markets page.
How this converter works
The converter uses live spot prices from CoinGecko, cached server-side for about 60 seconds. When you change either dropdown or the amount, the conversion is computed instantly from the in-page price lookup — no network call is made on every keystroke.
Prices shown reflect the global volume-weighted average across major exchanges. The exact price you pay on a specific exchange will vary based on:
- Spread: Most exchanges quote a bid/ask with a small gap. Market orders pay the spread.
- Fees: Maker/taker fees typically range 0.05–0.40% per trade.
- Slippage: Large orders move the book; the realised price differs from the screen price.
What about stablecoins?
USDT, USDC, DAI, and other USD-pegged stablecoins are listed at their market price — usually within a fraction of a cent of $1.00. If you see one materially off-peg, it is a stress signal.
What this does not do
The converter is a spot-price calculator. It does not:
- Execute a trade (we do not offer trading)
- Apply exchange-specific fees or spreads
- Show historical conversion rates
- Account for slippage on large orders
Use this as a quick "what is X worth in Y" reference. For execution, go to a regulated exchange in your jurisdiction.
Tax note. In most jurisdictions, converting one cryptocurrency to another is a taxable event. See our crypto tax basics.
