What is TRON (TRX)?
Tron (TRX) is a layer-1 blockchain launched in 2018 by the Tron Foundation, headed by Justin Sun, a Chinese entrepreneur who previously studied at University of Pennsylvania and worked at Ripple. The original vision was a decentralised entertainment platform where content creators could publish and monetise work without intermediaries taking a large cut. In practice, the network evolved in a different direction and became best known as the dominant rail for USDT (Tether) transfers: because transaction fees on Tron are extremely low — often less than a cent — it handles an enormous share of global stablecoin volume, particularly for transfers between exchanges and in markets where users prioritise cost over decentralisation principles.
Tron uses a delegated proof-of-stake model it calls DPoS. TRX holders vote for "super representatives", a fixed set of block producers who validate transactions in exchange for rewards, and share those rewards with their voters. The validator set is small and concentrated compared with proof-of-work networks, and critics argue this makes Tron more centralised than its marketing suggests. TRX itself is used to pay for two types of resources on the network, bandwidth (for basic transfers) and energy (for smart contracts). Holders can freeze their TRX to obtain these resources, which means they do not spend the token directly but instead lock it temporarily; unfreezing returns the TRX after a waiting period.
Tron's on-chain statistics — transaction count and total value transferred — often rank it among the most active blockchains globally, but critics note this activity is dominated by stablecoin transfers rather than a diverse application ecosystem. Justin Sun has been a controversial figure in the industry, and the project has faced scrutiny from regulators in multiple jurisdictions. As with all crypto, TRX is volatile. TRON (TRX) FAQ
Is TRX a good investment?
We don't give recommendations. TRX is volatile and its use case is concentrated in stablecoin transfers. Suitability depends on your own circumstances; do your own research.
Why is Tron used for USDT transfers?
Tron's very low transaction fees make it cheap to transfer USDT compared with Ethereum, and many exchanges support Tron-based USDT (TRC-20), so it became a common rail for moving stablecoins between platforms.
How are TheWeal's Tron predictions made?
Model-based scenarios from price history, volatility, liquidity and regime — not a forecast and not advice. See methodology.
How do I store TRX?
On an exchange (custodial) or a Tron-compatible self-custody wallet such as TronLink; a hardware wallet is recommended for larger amounts.
Can I lose money holding TRX?
Yes. Crypto prices can fall sharply. Never invest more than you can afford to lose.
What is the freeze/energy system on Tron?
Tron users can freeze TRX to obtain Energy (for smart-contract execution) and Bandwidth (for simple transfers). Frozen TRX is locked temporarily but earns voting power and resources rather than interest.
