Hot season ends in defeat for Trojan women hoopsters

Despite winning their first 17 games of the regular season and having the provincial championships in their home gym, the Trojans couldn’t defend their titles and succumbed to finishing fourth and out of further play this season.
In their provincial semi-final game against the Grande Prairie Wolves, the ball just wouldn’t fall despite scoring chances. The team dropped a 71-52 decision to the eventual tourney champions.
“We created shots,” said head coach Donovan Martin. “We had opportunities. We just could not put it in the hoop, and it’s been that way for two or three weeks.

After another defeat against Mount Royal University in the bronze medal match, the team concluded the season with a 19-4 record. Saying goodbye to the Trojans will likely be: Annalise Posein, Mecoh Bain, Evangeline Jacobson, Nyawal Bukjok, and Breanna Synowec.
