Career Directions: plan your career at one-stop shop
Career Directions Fall 2010, SAIT’s bi-annual career fair, seeks to introduce SAIT students to a myriad of new employment opportunities.
Nov. 17 marks the date when all SAIT students have the chance to meet and greet over 100 potential future employers on SAIT campus.
Even though many students and alumni who attend the event are typically looking for permanent, full-time positions, there are opportunities for students looking for any type of job.
Travis Ouchi, SAIT employment specialist, said companies are not only looking for students who want career positions, they’re also seeking students for summer employment and those students who will build connections for future employment. “You need to be out there shaking hands and making connections,” said Ouchi.
First years are encouraged to attend even though they aren’t entering their career field right away.
Many of the same employers come back to every career fair. Ouchi said representatives are recognizing the students who have attended previous career fairs and better jobs can result for those students who endeavor to be seen.
This year SAIT is also offering participating employers and professional associations the chance to add Braille to business cards at no charge.
During the spring 2010 Career Fair, over 85 companies tand organizations participated. This fall, SAIT will be opening up the second floor of the Heart Atrium, which will add room for 20 more potential employers.
