Coaches Corner – October 28, 2010

Head coach of the Trojans men’s basketball team, Mike Stevens answers a few questions for the Weal:

How would you say this season is looking so far?

It is going to be a fun season, as the league is wide open this year. Not only that, but we have a relatively young squad. Trying to turn potential into results always makes for some interesting times.

Who do you think your biggest rival will be?

For the first time in a long time, we have an interlocked schedule so it makes all our divisional games huge.  Having said that, MRU is always our biggest rival as it is for city bragging rights.

What games are “can’t miss” games for spectators?

Again, because we only see our divisional opponents twice instead of four times, those games will have playoff-like intensity. We had that last weekend versus Lethbridge and this weekend with Briercrest will be even bigger.

Tell us a little about your last game?

We lost our home opener by 15 points to Lethbridge, but we were in the game for two half-quarters until a key play didn’t go our way and they broke it open.  On the positive side, we were able to play with, what I think, will be one of the best teams in our conference.
